Pai Gow is the fusion of American Poker as well as the ancient Chinese dominos Pai Gow game. Played through one standard fifty-two-card deck plus one wild card, the objective of the game is to form 2 hands of cards which rank higher than the two hands of a banker.
How to Play Pai Gow Poker
Objective
To play 2 hands made of 5 and 2 cards respectively which are better than what the dealer holds.
Place your bet to be dealt the cards, and then assemble your cards in 2 hands of your preference.
Rules of Pai Gow Poker
The player is dealt 7 cards to form 2 hands of 5 and 2 cards respectively, face up. The dealer is also dealt 7 cards, face down. The player arranges his hands 1st, and then the dealer shows his cards and the champion is determined. The 5-card hands are evaluated against each other, as are the 2-card hands. The player succeeds only in the case that both of his hands win. To win one hand as well as losing the other results in a push and the bet is returned. A dealer wins all ties at the time of comparing a hand to another. The hands have standard poker values when being compared. Jokers are turned to aces except to complete a straight. When used in a flush, the joker becomes the highest missing card for the flush suit. The 2-card hand is just a pair or nothing; there are no straights or flushes at the 2-card hand.
Auto-Betting and Progressive
When playing online you can bet on a Progressive outcome as a contribution to the jackpot that could then be won in case a player holds a royal flush.
How Dealer Plays
Dealer must arrange his 7 cards through a slightly adapted version of the method utilized by the Caesar’s Palace Casino.
Arrange
In online play, the player could also arrange the hands using a similar method as dealer; to do so click on the “Arrange” option after the cards have been dealt. The player can usually still change the order further.
