Dealer Button
Texas Hold’em poker uses one small disc called the "dealer button" to indicate the dealer of a hand. Once a hand is finished, the dealer button moves clockwise to the next player. It ensures that all players have the possibility to play ether late or early and that every player gets the chance to post "blind bets".
In Single Table Tournaments the 1st player to obtain the dealer button is selected through a high card draw; every player is dealt a card and the player with highest valued card goes 1st. In case 2 or more players have a similarly valued card these are ranked as par suit: high-to-low, hearts, spades, clubs or diamonds.
Blind Bets
The player to the left of the dealer button is obligated to place a small blind, generally equal to half the lower stake, while the next player to his left must place a big blind equal to the lower stake limit. Once blind bets have made, the cards are dealt and the next player to the left begins the 1st betting round.
Both small and big blinds are consider live bets and the player has the option of calling, folding, raising or checking when the betting action come back to his position. After the flop as well as after every subsequent gambling round, the 1st active player to the left of the button is 1st to act.
Any active player that sits down in the table must post the equivalent of big blind. To stop blind abuse, the players are required to post a small blind or a big blind on re-entry if they sit out from a game, or in case both blinds have been neglected just the amount of a big blind is added directly to the pot as a live bet. All players have the option to sit out, as well as wait for a button to reach their location before choosing to play.
